Aethera was impressive winning on debut at Flemington before failing to handle the soft ground in the McNeil. Saintly Dancer also closed off nicely last start after winning her maiden two back.

Point Barrow is a Group 3 winner over this track and trip and can improve sharply second-up, while Ole Dancer is another capable of making ground late.

Lindermann brings strong second-up credentials and should control the race from the front after returning to winning form last start. Cosmic Crusader won the Group 2 P.B. Aeliana can improve sharply after a quiet return and boasts two Group 1 wins from the autumn, while Birdman is already a Group 1 winner and has previously won over this course and distance.

Zahrann has been competitive in all three Australian runs after previously contesting Group 1 company in Ireland and maps to get an economical run near the speed. Wootton Verni should be ready to improve third-up after competing at Group 1 level last preparation, with the likely moderate tempo an important factor in a big field.

Regal Award gets in light after winning the Group 3 Fred Best Classic over 1400m last preparation and can make his own luck from a favourable draw. Angel Capital has repeatedly found trouble in major races but brings high-class form, while Lady Shenandoah was Group 1-placed behind Idle Flyer over 1600m in the autumn and adds further depth.
