About Us
Built by punters, for punters.
The Daily Punt is an Australian racing and sports site with one job: to be the thing you open before you have a bet. We rate the racing ourselves, we put our tips up with the real price next to them, and we cover the news that actually moves a market rather than the news that fills a page.
No tipping subscriptions, no premium tier, no locked content. Everything on the site is free, including the ratings.
What we do
Our own ratings
Every rated runner across Australian thoroughbred and greyhound racing, with our rating out of 100, a comment on each runner, the projected speed map, barriers, jockeys and box draws. Refreshed through the day so scratchings come off as they happen.
Today's ratings →Daily tips
Tips across the racing codes and the football — NRL, AFL and more. Each selection is named, reasoned in a sentence, and carries the live fixed price rather than a number we liked yesterday.
Racing tips →News & analysis
Wraps, previews and the stories behind the form. Written for someone who is going to have a bet, not for someone who wants a press release.
Latest news →Video
Replays, interviews and the moments worth watching again, collected in one place.
Video library →How we rate
A rating is our assessment of a runner’s chance, scored out of 100 and set before we look at where the market has it. The price is the market’s opinion; the rating is ours. A bet is what happens when the two disagree — a runner we rate well at a price that implies it can’t win is the whole point of the exercise.
That means we will happily leave the favourite alone, and we will not put up a tip in every race. If a card doesn’t give us anything, we say nothing about it. A short list of genuine opinions is worth more than a full one padded out to look busy.
What you won’t find here
- —Stakes, units or bank talk. We’ll tell you what we like and why. How much you bet is your call and nobody else’s.
- —Invented prices.Prices shown are the real fixed price read from the market. If a market isn’t open, we show a dash instead of a guess.
- —Profit claims. No made-up strike rates, no “units up since January”. Punting is hard and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something.
Who we punt with
We don’t rank every bookmaker going around. The books we back are BetBunker and Ladbrokes, and they’re the ones you’ll see beside our tips — that’s a commercial relationship, and we’d rather say so plainly than pretend to be a neutral directory. It changes which book we point you at. It doesn’t change the rating.
Gambling responsibly
Betting should be entertainment you can afford, not a plan for making money. Most punters lose over time, and the ones who don’t are rarely the ones telling you about it. Set a deposit limit before you start, decide what a bad day looks like in advance, and treat a losing run as the cost of the entertainment rather than something to chase.
