Peter V'landys is reportedly set to become rugby league's first executive chairman after the ARL Commission endorsed the historic move on Tuesday night.
V'landys is expected to formally announce his future on Thursday, with the expanded role coming as the NRL continues its push to grow internationally and build towards $1 billion in assets. He is expected to resign from his role as RNSW CEO.
Jokers Grin could race after all
There has been a significant update on Jokers Grin, with Chris Waller clarifying that the talented gelding may not be heading to the paddock after all.
Jokers Grin recorded a minor temperature spike on Tuesday, but further examination found an abscess in one of his feet, which the stable believes was the likely cause.
The abscess has been treated, his temperature has returned to normal and Waller confirmed Jokers Grin has been entered to race on Saturday.

Exciting stayer Aethelwulf will face his latest test in Friday's $300,000 Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup (2300m).
The Matt Smith-trained five-year-old has been allocated the 54kg minimum and, despite also holding a nomination for Saturday's Kingston Town Stakes at Randwick, Newcastle remains the plan.

Chris Waller produced another pair of promising three-year-old fillies at Canterbury on Wednesday, with Saffron Veil defeating stablemate Affari in the 1250m maiden.
James McDonald positioned the $1.90 favourite within striking distance before Saffron Veil powered past leader Caloocan Beauty and held off the fast-finishing Affari by half a length.
Lindermann's half-brother Iommi was another runner to catch the eye, finishing strongly into fourth at $31.

In'kantosstar makes it three straight
The winning streak continues for exciting gelding In'kantosstar, who completed a hat-trick with another comfortable victory at Caulfield Heath on Wednesday.
The younger brother of Group 1 sprinter Jimmysstar was sent out a dominant $1.45 favourite and cruised clear late to score by 1¼ lengths under Ethan Brown.
"He's a very nice horse that is only going to get better with racing," Brown said.
Brown believes there is still considerable improvement to come, suggesting the best of In'kantosstar may not be seen until next preparation.
Sha Tin meeting cancelled
Sunday's Sha Tin meeting on September 20 has been cancelled as a mark of respect following arrangements for the State Funeral of The Honourable Tung Chee Hwa, Hong Kong's first Chief Executive.
