Turnbull to decide Half Yours' major spring target
Saturday's Group 1 Turnbull Stakes will determine whether Half Yours chases back-to-back Caulfield Cups or takes a shot at the Cox Plate.
Co-trainer Calvin McEvoy says the reigning Caulfield and Melbourne Cup winner's performance at Flemington will shape the remainder of his spring.
“Where he finishes will determine whether he's going to a Cox Plate or a Caulfield Cup,” McEvoy said.
Williams duo disqualified for 12 months
Leading Western Australian trainers Grant and Alana Williams have been disqualified for 12 months following a long-running case involving the banned substance ritalinic acid.
The substance was detected in a post-mortem sample taken from Starry Heights, who was eased out of the Kalgoorlie Cup on October 4, 2025 and later died.
The Williams have strongly rejected any suggestion the substance was knowingly administered to Starry Heights and are expected to appeal the decision.
71 remain in Melbourne Cup contention
The Melbourne Cup dream remains alive for 71 horses following first acceptances for the November 3 feature at Flemington.
Among those still in contention are 13 international acceptors for the 3200m showpiece.

Warwoven's dominant 3.2-length Golden Rose victory has earned him a 105.5 WFA Performance Rating from The Rating Bureau, placing him among the highest-rated winners of the race in the past decade.
Only Beiwacht (108) and Bivouac (106) have rated higher during that period, with Warwoven matching Trapeze Artist's 105.5 and sitting ahead of Autumn Sun's 104.5.

Importantly, Guest House has pulled up well from the run, leaving the door open for connections to consider a shot at the $20 million Everest.
Blue Door set to secure Newgate's Everest slot
Blue Door is set to join the Everest field after owner John Singleton reached a handshake agreement with Newgate Farm's Henry Field for the filly to run in Newgate's slot.
Singleton expects the agreement to be formally ratified by Racing NSW shortly, securing Blue Door a place in next month's $20 million Everest at Randwick.
