Another huge Saturday of spring racing delivered Group 1 upsets, brilliant rides and some big statements ahead of the biggest races of the carnival.
From a superstar filly at Rosehill to a massive boilover at Caulfield, here's what caught our eye.
Rosehill Gardens
Satono Glow lights up the Roman Consul
Satono Glow produced a devastating turn of foot to win the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m), reeling in runaway leader Paradoxium under a cool ride from Zac Lloyd.
The John O'Shea and Tom Charlton-trained filly has now won four of five starts and heads to the Coolmore Stud Stakes as a genuine contender. She's already won twice down the Flemington straight, which makes her particularly dangerous.
Paradoxium simply went too hard in front and faded to fourth.
Attrition wins a Hill Stakes thriller
Attrition turned the tables on old rival Lindermann in a grandstand finish to the $2 million Hill Stakes (1900m).
Jamie Mott timed his challenge perfectly, getting the Mitchell Freedman galloper up in the final strides to deny Lindermann by a half-neck.
It's Attrition's second Hill Stakes victory in three years, with Freedman already talking about coming back for another crack next spring. The tough campaigner has now earned more than $5.5 million.
Caulfield
Pinhole puts himself in the Cups picture
Pinhole continued his rapid rise with a tough victory in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m), booking a potential Caulfield Cup berth.
Chris Waller isn't rushing into anything, with the Geelong Cup, Moonee Valley Gold Cup and Melbourne Cup all under consideration. The way Pinhole fought back late suggests there's more to come over longer distances.
Point Barrow produces another explosive finish
Point Barrow is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting sprint mares in the country after another devastating last-to-first performance in the Group 3 Northwood Plume Stakes (1200m).
Mark Zahra rode her cold at the back before unleashing that extraordinary turn of foot to put the race away in a matter of strides, defeating Naifah by 1Β½ lengths.
The Freedman-trained mare has now won seven of 12 starts, and the Group 1 Champions Sprint at Flemington looks the next target.
Jigsaw makes it eight straight
What a remarkable horse Jigsaw has become.
The eight-year-old returned from a lengthy spell and simply ran his rivals ragged in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes (1100m), recording his eighth consecutive victory in track-record time.
Logan Bates controlled the race from the front, while trainer Cindy Alderson continues to work wonders with the evergreen sprinter.
Land Legend stuns Sheza Alibi
One of the biggest boilovers of the spring!
Land Legend, sent out at massive odds, led throughout under Ethan Brown to defeat superstar Sheza Alibi in the Group 1 Might And Power Stakes (2000m).
Sheza Alibi was gallant in defeat, chasing hard in a brutally run race, but couldn't reel him in. Peter Moody was quick to suggest the result would be different next time.
The Golden Eagle remains her target, while Land Legend has opened up options including the Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate.
Warwoven is something special
Warwoven confirmed his standing among Australia's best three-year-olds with a dominant victory in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m).
The Bjorn Baker colt backed up his Golden Rose success, powering past Blind Raise under Rachel King to claim another Group 1.
King declared she'd never ridden anything like him, while Baker described Warwoven as a once-in-a-lifetime colt.
J-Mac produces a Toorak masterclass
What a ride from James McDonald aboard Lady Shenandoah in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m).
With nowhere to go, J-Mac somehow found a narrow opening and drove the Chris Waller mare through to grab victory from Changing Colours.
Waller called it one of the all-time great rides. Lady Shenandoah showed enormous courage and race sense to claim her fourth Group 1.
