A competitive 11-race Sha Tin program split between the turf and all-weather, with several progressive horses returning and some strong betting opportunities later in the card.

Race 1 β€” Chai Wan Kok Handicap

3:30pm Β· 1600m Β· Class 5 Β· All-Weather

Oriental Surprise has become frustrating but continues to race well, finishing runner-up in three of his past four. He was narrowly beaten last time and has previously run well over this course and distance. Hailtothevictors also attracts plenty of support returning to the all-weather.

12. Oriental Surprise

Consistent recent form, proven on the surface and another suitable opportunity to finally break through.

2. Hailtothevictors

The secondary selection.

Race 2 β€” Kwok Shui Handicap

4:00pm Β· 1200m Β· Class 4

One of the more open races. Copartner A I showed ability despite racing greenly and finding trouble on debut, while Lean Era's debut fourth was considerably better than the finishing position suggests. Kol also gets a significant jockey and barrier upgrade.

3. Copartner A I

Showed plenty despite doing things wrong on debut and should have considerable improvement to come.

Race 3 β€” Muk Min Ha Handicap

4:30pm Β· 1650m Β· Class 2 Β· All-Weather

Talents Ambition has an excellent fresh profile and has prepared well, but Sing Dragon returned with a win for his new stable and now gets back onto his preferred all-weather surface. He is already a course-and-distance winner and should improve with the first-up run behind him.

3. Sing Dragon

Proven over the track and distance, race-fit and appears to have returned in excellent order for his new stable.

Race 4 β€” Lo Wai Handicap

5:00pm Β· 1400m Β· Class 5

The All Rounder rattled home from a hopeless draw to finish second first-up and now gets a huge map upgrade from barrier four. Superb Guy had traffic problems last time, while Peridot has also been crying out for a better draw.

8. The All Rounder

His first-up run screamed approaching winner and the barrier change gives him a substantially better set-up.

Race 5 β€” Sha Tsui Handicap

5:30pm Β· 1650m Β· Class 4 Β· All-Weather

Tricky race. Night Purosangue could again control proceedings after dominating over this track and trip last start. Vivacious Win brings more upside, has trialled well on the surface and gets Zac Purton back aboard after enduring a wide trip last time.

6. Night Purosangue

The lack of obvious pressure gives Night Purosangue the opportunity to control the race again from a favourable draw.

Race 6 β€” Yan Chai Trophy

6:00pm Β· 1400m Β· Class 4

Grand Patch's first-up fourth was much better than the result after he was badly held up before charging through once the race was effectively over. He has subsequently won a trial, strips fitter and gets a better draw. Shotgun looks the main pace threat.

2. Grand Patch

Strong hidden first-up performance, subsequent trial win and a much cleaner set-up second-up.

Race 7 β€” Sham Tseng Handicap

6:35pm Β· 1400m Β· Class 4

A genuinely open race with several different form angles. Lady's Love produced his best Hong Kong performance when charging home for third first-up and now gets barrier one and Zac Purton. Mighty Fighter had excuses first-up, while Polar Patch has trialled encouragingly.

3. Lady's Love

His first-up performance suggested a win is close and the combination of barrier one and Purton creates a substantially better scenario.

Race 8 β€” Chinese Recreation Club Challenge Cup

7:05pm Β· 1800m Β· Class 3

Flow Water Flow had virtually no room when fourth first-up and now gets exactly what he wants with the rise to 1800m. He won his only previous attempt at the distance and Zac Purton takes over. Hymnbook produced a huge finish first-up and looks the main danger.

5. Flow Water Flow

Luckless first-up, proven at 1800m, ideally suited stepping back up in distance and now gets Purton.

Race 9 β€” Shek Wai Kok Handicap

7:35pm Β· 1650m Β· Class 3 Β· All-Weather

A difficult race with several different opinions. Quantum Legend gets barrier one and Zac Purton for his first dirt attempt after having little room first-up. Turin Mascot is well down in the ratings and should get the strong tempo he needs, while Dragon Air Force is much better suited back to this course and distance.

12. Quantum Legend

There was more in his first-up run than the result suggests and the inside draw plus Purton booking makes his first dirt attempt particularly interesting.

11. Turin Mascot

The secondary selection.

Race 10 β€” Shing Mun Handicap

8:10pm Β· 1000m Β· Class 3

Conghua Galaxy gets a major opportunity to turn the tables on Alpha Strike after finishing 1Β½ lengths behind him first-up. He meets him 3kg better this time and should improve from that first Hong Kong experience. Lahore is another serious chance chasing a hat-trick.

9. Conghua Galaxy

Promising local debut and the 7lb turnaround gives him a strong chance to reverse the first-up result.

2. Alpha Strike

The secondary selection.

Race 11 β€” Yau Kom Tau Handicap

8:45pm Β· 1200m Β· Class 3

Solid State was explosive winning over this course and distance on his Hong Kong debut before finding 1000m too sharp first-up this campaign. He still finished second and was strongest late, and now gets back to 1200m with Zac Purton taking over. Gold Patch and Grand Eagle are the dangers.

πŸ‡ Sha Tin R11 Β· Yau Kom Tau Handicap Β· 8:45pmBetBunkerBetBunker
Silks for number 2
2. Solid State

Back to his optimum 1200m after an excellent run over an unsuitable trip and the Purton booking completes a very strong set-up.

4. Gold Patch

The secondary selection.

Best bets

Best bet: R8 – 7:05pm | No. 5 Flow Water Flow β€” The strongest overall combination of independent support and underlying form on the card. His first-up fourth was full of merit, the return to 1800m is a major positive and he gets Zac Purton for the first time.

Next best: R11 – 8:45pm | No. 2 Solid State β€” His local debut over this course and distance was outstanding and he still ran second when 1000m proved too sharp first-up. Back to 1200m with Purton aboard, he gets an ideal opportunity.

Value: R7 – 6:35pm | No. 3 Lady's Love β€” The raw consensus is divided in this race, but his first-up third was excellent after being taken back from a wide gate. Barrier one and the switch to Purton could make a significant difference.
