Mr Monaco earns Melbourne Cup penalty

Ciaron Maher's Mr Monaco has moved up the Melbourne Cup order of entry following his victory in Saturday's Group 3 Bart Cummings (2520m) at Flemington.

Mr Monaco received a 1.5kg penalty, taking him to 52.5kg for the Melbourne Cup, while his Bart Cummings victory also means he is now exempt from the ballot.

Maher's Juja Kibo has also received a weight penalty following his feature-race victory over the weekend.

Cox Plate could be next for Pride Of Jenni

There is talk that Pride Of Jenni could be headed straight to the Cox Plate at Flemington for her next start.

Trainer Ciaron Maher is expected to make an announcement on Tuesday regarding the champion mare's plans.

Meanwhile, decisions on whether Cosmic Crusader and Light Infantry Man head towards the Caulfield Cup or Cox Plate are also expected this week.

Savvy Hallie locks away Everest slot

Savvy Hallie is officially headed to The Everest after passing her final audition at Randwick on Saturday with flying colours.

The talented sprinter will now take her place in the world's richest race on turf at Royal Randwick on October 17 in Mulberry Racing's slot.

Jimmysstar team weighing up Sydney Stakes

The connections of Jimmysstar are considering bypassing The Everest and instead contesting the $2 million Group 2 Sydney Stakes on the same card.

The Sydney Stakes carries $1.1 million to the winner, the same amount as finishing third in The Everest.

With Ka Ying Rising and Tempted looming as formidable opposition in the $20 million feature, the alternative presents an interesting prizemoney decision for the Jimmysstar team.

Global Goal stays in Sydney

Group 1-winning filly Global Goal will bypass the Thousand Guineas and remain in Sydney for the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on October 24.

Trainer John Sargent will give the filly the opportunity to add a second Group 1 victory to her record over the longer trip rather than travelling to Caulfield for the Thousand Guineas on October 17.

Ka Ying Rising steps out at Randwick Tuesday

Sydney racing fans will get their chance to see Ka Ying Rising at Royal Randwick on Tuesday morning as the world's highest-rated racehorse prepares for The Everest.

The morning begins with breakfast at 8am, followed by Ka Ying Rising's parade at 8:45am and his barrier trial at 9am. Entry is free.

Ray Dawson booked for Enfjaar

UK import Enfjaar will have a familiar face aboard for his Australian debut, with regular jockey Ray Dawson booked for the Caulfield Cup.

Dawson has ridden Enfjaar at his past three starts, including his dominant victory in the Group 3 Glorious Stakes (2400m) at Goodwood on August 1.

It will be the Irish-born jockey's first ride in the Caulfield Cup.

Melham chooses Blue Door for The Everest

Star jockey Jamie Melham has chosen to ride the flying Blue Door in The Everest rather than attempt another Caulfield Cup victory aboard Half Yours.

Blue Door trainer Bjorn Baker was keen to secure one of the country's leading lightweight riders, with Melham able to ride the filly at 51kg.

It is a race where you need to find the best available, and fortunately, we were able to get Jamie, who rides the weight and is one of the best in the country.

Meanwhile, Mark Zahra has been booked to ride Half Yours in the 150th Caulfield Cup.

Concord Connie gets her Stakes chance

Concord Connie will step into black-type company for the first time when she contests the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on October 17.

The Charlotte Littlefield-trained mare was beaten as a $1.30 favourite first-up at Mornington but will be given her chance to bounce back at Stakes level.

Jett Stanley retains the ride.

Lane picks up Pretty Baby ride

With Jamie Melham heading to Sydney on Caulfield Cup Day, Damian Lane has picked up the ride aboard exciting South Australian filly Pretty Baby in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m).

Pretty Baby heads to Caulfield on October 17 looking to deliver connections a Group 1 after they recently rejected a $2.5 million offer for the filly.

Daryz goes back-to-back in the Arc

Daryz has created history at Longchamp, becoming the first horse since Alleged in 1978 to win consecutive editions of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

The Francis-Henri Graffard-trained four-year-old swept past Bay City Roller under Mickael Barzalona to win the €5 million feature by 1¼ lengths.

The victory also delivered the Aga Khan family a record ninth Arc triumph.
